gargotiGargoti museum, an award winning mineral museum is located 32 kms from Nashik in town Sinnar. It is one of the best and biggest museums in the world with large collection of zeolites which are micro porous crystalline solids with well defined rich structures. This amazing museum was founded by Mr. Krishna Chandra Pandey, an ex merchant navy officer. ‘Pride of India’, ‘Sarswati Puraskar’, ‘Sinnar Gaurav’ are some among the awards that has given to appreciate this museum. Gargoti museum is a place full of exciting, colourful and mesmerising stones and minerals. It is the only museum in India that displays the mineral treasures of the earth like rocks, minerals and crystals varying in nature, shape, color and application. Various specimens of diamonds, cut stones, light green cubical apophyllite, crystals of yellow calcite, blue-green aquamarine, cavansite and rare foreign minerals are few of the exhibits in the museum. They are displayed in two galleries – ‘The Prestige Gallery’ on the ground floor and ‘Minerals from the Deccan Plateau’ on the first floor. A souvenir shop is attached to the museum, where necklaces, mineral specimen, lapidary items, post card pictures and posters are sold.

This inspiring and beautiful museum is open 24 hours on all days and the visiting time is from 10.00 a.m to 10.00 p.m. Prior appointment is required to visit the museum for other timings. The entry fee is Rs. 100/- per person which also includes the guide fees. Definitely worth a visit!!
