Artist village Saputara  is a small village run by Chandrakant Parmar & Surya Goswami. 
You can see live artist creating art if you happen to reach at right time.

Dang District, of which Saputara forms a part, contains about 300 villages that offer abode to various tribal communities. 
These communities include Bhils, Gamits, Warli tribes who form a part of Artist Village at Saputara Hill Station.

These tribes rely on forest for extracting timber and honey.Saputara is a plateau in Dang forest area of Sahyadri range at an altitude of 1000m.

It’s a well planned hill station that is at a distance of around 170 km from Surat, 80 km from Nashik & around 5 km from border of Maharashtra.

About Handicrafts In Artists Village Saputara

Tourist can find many artifacts made up of bamboo, like pen stands, painting, jewelry, key chains, masks, pottery, vases etc in shops operating in Artist Village. 

The artists also organise various workshops to teach their arts. 

Artist Village is a good place not only to see and buy artefacts but also to get your hands to work and learn about culture of this region.

There are lots of resorts and hotels available in and around artist village. Even in the village there is accommodation available at reasonable rates.

The climate here is cool and pleasant throughout the year. The average maximum temperature recorded is 30.4’ Celsius and minimum temperature is 10’ Celsius. Climate is comfortable even during peak summer season.

Best time to Visit
You can visit the place any time during the year, but the best time to visit would be from mid November to March.

How to travel there
By road: The town of Waghai is 51 km away. Ahmedabad: 409 km. Surat: 164 km. Mumbai: 250 km. Vadodara: 309 km. There are State Transport buses and private luxury coaches from Waghai and Ahmedabad. If you are coming by a private car, than National Highway might be quicker, but the state highway will offers a stunningly scenic drive.
By rail: The nearest railway station is Waghai, on the Billimora-Waghai narrow gauge section of the Western Railway. For those coming from Gujarat via Surat or Ahmedabad or even from Mumbai, Billimora is the more convenient rail head, and a direct bus service is available from there.
By air: The nearest airport is Vadodara, 309 km away.
