City schools witnessed a ‘clean’ Children’s Day in Nashik

This Children’s Day was one of a kind in Nashik. The State education minister Vinod Tawade instructed education officers through video conferencing during a training session to conduct Bal Swachhata Abhiyan from November 14 to 19. S Chockalingam, commissioner school education department, was also present for the session held at the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Nashik. Also education officers, group education officer, HOD’s, deputy director of education, extension officers and the administrative officer of the Nashik Municipal Corporation’s education department were present for the training session. He had also asked them to observe Education Day on November 11 on account of the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

Kiran Kuwar, administrative officer of the Nashik Municipal Corporation’s education department said, From November 14, we will have to carry out cleanliness activities for the Bal Swachhata Abhiyan programme. “We wish to incorporate awareness about simple daily life rituals like washing hands before eating, keeping the toilets and our surroundings clean etc. Knowledge about this students will be enforced among the students.

Civic schools teachers had observed Education Day on Tuesday by cleaning premises of their respective institutes in the cleanliness campaign for children which started from November 14 which is celebrated as Children’s Day.

The schools that reopened on November 13, were instructed to observe the day and begin by cleaning the schools. The instructed the headmasters and headmistresses were asked to get the water tanks cleaned by the NMC before the students would join the later part of the academic year.

There are altogether 127 civic schools and 984 teachers in the city. From November 14, the teachers and the students began carrying out cleanliness activities in their schools. On November 14, information on cleanliness and health was given to the staffers and the teachers. The importance of cleanliness and good health was stressed upon. Nashik schools celebrated a clean Children’s Day as the teachers and students cleaned all the rooms and the school premises. On November 15, the teachers got themselves oriented about balanced diet and health from the nearest hospitals and were asked to prepare a power point presentation, video clipping or posters to educate the students about the same.
