2016 Navratri festival begins in Nashik

dancersThe 9-day long ‘Navratri’ festival began in Kalikamata Mandir of Nashik city, as well with a grand puja at the famous hill temple of Goddess Saptshrungi Mata at Vani in Kalvan taluka and other pars of the district today.

A large number of devotees thronged the Saptshrungi Devigarh at Nanduri, about 72 kms from here, for offering prayers to the Goddess. District Session Judge Arun Dhavale performed the pooja of Saptshrugi Mata and began the 9-days Durgautsav.

Nashik Mayor Ashok Murtadak and trust of the temple performed pooja of Goddess Kalika Mata in the city. The Kalika Mata mandir situated on old Mumbai-Agra road Nashik, is open for 24 hours for devotees. The temple of Goddess Kalima, known as Nashik’s ‘Gramdevata’ (town Goddess), witnesses huge crowds of devotees during Navratrotsav. There are other temples such as Sndavyavarchi Devi on the bank of river Godavari and the Durga Devi temple at Nashik Road. Considering the crowd of dew devotees at all these places during the 9-day festival, arrangements have been made for their convenience and security at all places
