Planaing caterers for your Wedding ? Make sure its approved by FDA
Make sure your wedding and social gathering does not get spoiled by RAID conducted by FDA (Food and Drug Administration Of India) in and around NASHIK.
FDA will be keeping close eye at wedding halls, or social functions where food is served on a large scale. The food would be confiscated if an unauthorised caterer has cooked it. The fact is that only 8 caterers from 300 are FDA approved.
Chandrakant Pawar who is an Joint commissioner (food), Nashik division, said, “There are around 300 caterers across the city serving food in wedding halls or at social functions, but have not obtained a licence from the FDA. We had recently conducted a meeting for food caterers and appealed to them to get a licence at the earliest. However, only eight of the 300 food caterers have taken the licence, so far. We are upset about the poor response and have decided to take stern action against food caterers who have not got licences from Monday.”
As per the new Food Safety and Standard Act 2006, a licence is compulsory for the business with a turnover of more than Rs 12 lakh. Businesses having a turnover of less than Rs 12 lakh need not obtain a licence, but are required to get registered.
The food business, which is covered by the act from August 5, 2011, includes pan stalls, fruit-vegetable vendors, vendors selling food items on hand-carts, grocery shops, food bakeries, food makers, professionals in packaging foods, food caterers, inn, dhabas, tea stalls, onion-potato traders, meat shops and others.
So Nashiker if your planing to be host for your guest make sure your caterers are FDA approved.
