Bhagur is a small village around 6 to 7 miles from Nashik in Western Maharashtra. It would have remained a mere speck on the map had it not been for the fact that it is the birthplace of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Savarkar’s ancestors migrated to Bhagur during the time of Peshwa Bajirao I. Veer Savarkar was born and brought up in Bhagur. He spent the first fourteen years of his life in Bhagur.

Veer Savarkar Waada in Bhagur is located around 18 Km from Nashik city. After crossing jam-packed lanes housing local market, you will reach the Waada. The house is artistically built. It is preserved to its best and tourists visits here to see the very residence of their patriotic icon. Among all, the prayer room, study room and Bhuyari Marg/ Chor Rasta (Secret way to escape) are available to explore.
