Clothes Distribution Drive in Nashik by the Legend Social Group
“What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world, is and remains immortal.” – Albert Pine
While Diwali concluded in the city with a grand fare and fervour, a city based group aimed at continuing with the lightning…not of lamps and crackers but of lives. Diwali in Nashik is no longer just about the extravagance that only the affluent can afford. While on one hand, eco-friendly crackers, home pujas, flower based rangolis took over, on the other hand, the spirit of thanksgiving was nurtured by people. The Legend Social Group Organized a Clothes Distribution Drive in Nashik by distributing old clothes and some winter wear among underprivileged Nashikar’s.
They commenced the Clothes Distribution Drive from their own families followed by neighbours and other acquaintances, who were readily willing to help this deprived part of our society. They cleaned, ironed and packed the collected clothes in a plastic wrap and then went on with with their distribution drive.
The Clothes Distribution Drive in Nashik held on 24th Oct 2014 was fanned across three locations Goda ghat, Upnagar and Datta Mandir. Mr Suraj Nerekar a member from the group quoted, “The volunteers could hardly grab the clothes as quickly as all the bidding hands demanded them. At one corner, a t-shirt was needed and another a pair of jeans and no one in the huge crowd that was was shy of asking for what they needed most urgently. It was heart warming that our little effort could spread so many smiles and happiness.”
After a successful clothes collection drive and distribution in Diwali, they have planned a similar initiative before winter. At Page3nashik, we always support such noble initiatives and also urge Nashikars to lend a helping hand to Legend Social Group in their next initiative. Looking forward to hear from you.
