The ground-breaking ceremony of various tourist facilities at Ozarkhed Dam Dindori taluka of Nashik district will be done at the hands of state tourism minister Chhagan Bhujbal on 17th february 2014. The state government has sanctioned Rs 588.30 lakh for development of the tourist destination.
Located 40 kilometres from Nashik, Ozarkhed dam was constructed in 1984. The reservoir on Nashik-Vani state highway number 17 presents a spectacular view of the sunset. Other religious places and tourist spots like Vani (Saptashrungigad ) and are in close proximity of Ozharkhed. Vani is 30 kms away and Saputara hill station in Gujarat is 55 kms away from Ozharkhed. Many tourists visiting Shirdi and Trimbakeshwar make it a point to stop at Ozharkhed.
Development of proper infrastructure at Ozarkhed will attract tourists who also visit Shirdi, Trimbakeshwar, Vani, Panchavati and Nashik. This will create a major revenue generation opporunity for the state. Keeping in view this potential, the state government has decided to develop major tourist facilities here and has sanctioned Rs 588.30 lakh for the same.
In the first phase, works like fencing the place marked for development, construction of a club house, administrative block, restaurant, harbour, jetty, water and sanitation facilities, fountains, security cabins, parking facilities, pathways and landscaping, water tank and RCC drains are planned.
The second phase will see building of sand pit, development of an island (hillock) in the backwater, boating facilities, waterpark, parking, indoor and outdoor games facilities worth Rs 4.57 crore.
