Lam Road is one of the important stretches in this region which connects Nashik Road to Sinnar via Bhagur and heads towards Igatpuri. So far, citizens were demanding the administration to widen this stretch as population and traffic in the area has been increased to a notable extent in the past few years.
On this backdrop, the Cantonment Board administration was in consistent follow up since the past three years to get Lam Road works included into draft budget of the Central and State governments ahead of Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Along with Senior Army Officials and the Cantt Board President, the Vice-President, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other Board members took collective efforts to get this task done.

Meanwhile, the administration has informed that the road works will be completed before the Kumbh Mela in 2015 and for that, funds of Rs 5 crores have been provided to concerned department in the first phase. Cantonment Board administration has started measurement works of the road. Accordingly, the stretch which is 9 meter in width, will be widened by 4 meter on its East and by 7 meters on its West.
The streetlamps, which are along a side of the stretch right now, will be in the middle of the road after it get widened and all the lamp-posts will be connected through underground wiring. Sources have informed that the widening works of Lam Road will surely help to regulate the traffic in a specific manner and reduce the percentage of accidents here.
