Being the 16th fast-growing city in the world, Nashik is now stepping forward to get actually connected with the world by means of air transport services. Recent visit of commercial team of Air Jet company to the newly established Nashik Airport, has noted this fact. Soon, the other air transport service providers like Spicejet, Air Asia and Indigo will also arrive here for feeler trials to expand their services. All in all, the Nashik Airport is about to be an international airport soon.Though Mumbai has the cities like Nashik, Surat and Pune at the same distance, a number planes have to be landed at Ahmedabad Airport due to congestion at Mumbai Airport itself. This process becomes time and money spending one for the transport service providers.
On this backdrop, some of the senior officials from Air Jet company had visited to Nashik Airport as Nashik will be a convenient option to Ahmedabad in such cases. Following the officials’ satisfactory inspection, the commercial team of Air Jet visited Nashik two days back. The team inspected fueling and fuel storage facilities provided at the airport. Apart from this, it studied the climatic conditions in connection with safe landing and take off of the planes, and took stock of technical setup provided for Air Traffic Control. The team further inspected overall facilities provided for the passengers at Nashik Airport.
As the airport falls under jurisdiction of Defence Department, officials discussed the issues regarding facilitation for commercial air transport here. Accordingly, three officials from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Public Works Department Officer Sonawane, Shyam Misal, developer Vilas Birar and NIMA president Manish Kothari interacted with Air Jet team.
In his address, Manish Kothari explained the feasibility of Night Landing facility provided at Nashik Airport. He noted that around 300 passengers use air transport system to go to other cities in and outside the country. Averagely, the same number of passengers, especially industrialists, arrive at Nashik everyday. Therefore, the night landing facility would be useful here.
