Nashik Municipal Corporation starts cleanliness campaign from home
Just as the proverb goes “Charity begins at home”, similarly cleanliness also begins at home. Since the announcement of “Swach Bharat” campaign on Oct 2nd 2014 by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, every school, college, government offices, private offices, malls have got into the cleanliness mode.
Cleanliness is not a one time job, but maintaining it throughout, all the time is a important. That’s why, Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) decided to carry forward this campaign by instructing all their departments to maintain cleanliness not only at their offices or homes but to pay attention to their personal hygiene and also by maintaining a clear surroundings.
Health department issued notices to all other departments, which lead to a cleanliness drive this Wednesday. After receiving the notice, all office personnel too got into cleanliness mode with equal enthusiasm. They started with cleaning of their offices and homes.
J Z Kothari, an official in the NMC’s medical department said “We are going to continue this cleanliness drive and all the employees are instructed to keep their work place, their homes and also their surroundings clean. All the employees too responded in a positive way and got into act immediately. Maintaining a clean work place is beneficial not only for us but also for those who come to our offices. Clean surroundings not only looks good but also it makes us feel fresh and clutter free.”
An NMC employee says “Being surrounded by loads of dumped files makes us feel unduly stressed, as it shows us the amount of work to be done. But if the files are properly stacked and are put away as soon as their work is done, makes us feel good and relieved.
We often rely on office assistants to keep away the files. These assistants are sometimes caught up with other work, leading to piling up of files at one place. If we do our bit of work, not only do we feel better, but also makes things easy to work with.”
An official with health department suggested “This cleanliness drive won’t be a one day campaign as such. It will be maintained throughout the year, to create a clean work environment, and also to let employees learn and maintain cleanliness.”
Hope everyone takes cue from them and start doing their bit in maintaining a clean surrounding, leading to a clean country as our Prime Minister wishes.
