The FMSCI announced on this Thursday that the much awaited Indian National TSD Rally Championship will host its 1st round later this month. The first round on the 28th -29th September will take off in Nashik, while the other 4 rounds will be held in Chikmagalur, Coimbatore, and Bangalore and again in Coimbatore on October 19-20, November 16-17, December 7-8 and December 20-21 respectively.
Brands associated in the last year were Mysore’s Berunda Adventure Sports club as the promoters and JK Tyre as the title sponsors. None of the brands has been disclosed for the 2013 series. Having said that, Mahindra have confirmed their presence and support by supplying 6 cars. The press release by FMSCI President Vicky Chandok said that the total distance of each round is set at a distance of minimum 175 kms and maximum 200 kms.
Mr. Chandok also added, “Our first year of the TSD Rallying Championship was received very well and that is why we are keen to promote it again this year. The interesting thing about TSD is that it is the only form of motorsport where speed is not a priority but rather precision and is a great stepping stone for rally enthusiasts. We had good manufacturers support last year and we hope to get more of them involved this year as well.”
