The mega festival, Kumbh Mela is slated to start in 2015. Many preparations have been processed and will continue till the end to cater all the needs of the citizens as well as pilgrims. Step by step measures are taken by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), and this is yet another step initiated by them to get a solution for one of the biggest challenge, parking areas for the Kumbh Mela.
As lakhs of sadhus and other pilgrims will visit the holy event, chaotic parkings will add to the woes. Therefore, 23 parking areas for the Kumbh Mela, including 3 huge areas have been identified by the NMC. The 3 big areas will be set up at Mhasarul, Peth Road and Adgaon. The 78 hectares land can accommodate around 30,000 vehicles.
The division of sites is calculated as, Mhasarul parking area will be on 18 hectares land, rough accommodation estimated at a time is 6,900 vehicles. 20 hectares land area will be set up at Peth Road in survey numbers 384, 385, 386, 387 and 390, with an estimated accommodation of 7,580 vehicles. The 3rd area is about 40 hectares land at Adgaon with an accommodation of 15,160 vehicles.The NMC forces provided the information saying, “We have planned 23 parking areas within the limits of the municipal corporation. Three large parking areas have been finalized. Though we have identified locations for the remaining 20 parking areas for Kumbh Mela, they are yet to be finalized. All the parking areas will be along the roads.”
NMC is gearing up to face both major and miscellaneous challenges during the Mela with appropriate measures.
