In a span of 5 years, Nashik is undergoing vast changes and modifications both infrastructural and lifestyle wise. Nashik is developing at a lightning speed giving rise to many new projects and ventures.

One of the newly proposed ventures is the construction of a boat club at the backwaters of the Gangapur dam in the city. We see people enjoying their pleasant evenings at the backwaters and the boat club is one way to add substance to public’s delight. But, few environmental activists in the city do not find the proposal beneficial for the flora and fauna.

To maintain a pollution free zone and to safeguard the flora and fauna in the vicinity, these activists show discontent on the idea of creating a boat club. Rs. 5 crore has been sanctioned by the government for a few recreational zones such as boat clubs, water sports centre and others in Nashik. The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and the Central Tourism Fund have taken the initiative to create the same.
