The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has become an internet sensation, attracting 1.7 million contributors all over the world. From celebrities to presidents, from CEO’s of multinational companies to common man, everyone is taking part in this challenge and completing the task successfully. Ben Affleck, lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey and business tycoons like Mark Zuckerberg (CEO Facebook) Satya Nadella (Microsoft) and Bill gates took the challenge of dumping ice over their heads and posting videos online and contributing to the cause.
In India too, the Icebucketchallenge has gone viral with Bollywood celebrities, like Akshay Kumar, Bipasha Basu, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta taking it up and completing the task successfully.

ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a rare disease, a neurodegenerative one. In the current scenario, it is the hottest thing to hit social media with the Ice Bucket Challenge flooding timelines and news feeds on twitter and Facebook.The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is an activity involving dumping of bucket of ice water on someone’s head to promote awareness of the disease and to encourage donations to research. It went viral on social media during July-August 2014.
What is the actual challenge?
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge dares nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water poured on their heads and passing on the challenge to their friends. A common condition is that the nominated people have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by way of a charitable financial donation.
