NASHIK GIRL SHINES IN ASIAN YOUTH GAMES

Here we share a proud moment with all Nashikites.15 year old girl Anjana Thamke from Nashik outshined at India’s first women’s medal from Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China. This damsel won the 800m jump representing India and our city Nashik.

She delivered her best and ran for 2 minutes 11.47 seconds successfully finishing and overpowering contender Savinder Kaur, nearly three seconds ahead of Malaysian. Other contenders in the game included Rochelle Maria Macfarlane, 16 from Chennai who recorded her best and left behind Yue Ma with a record of 12.38m winning a silver medal in the triple jump.

The Indian men have already queued up for the gold by beating Hong Kong in semifinals. Also Kush Kumar, Harshit Kaur, Adya Adwani, Garvit Batra and many more played well giving remarkable performances.

As it is rightly quoted, “Winning isn’t everything but wanting to win definitely is” and this is exactly what Anjana has proved. It’s a moment of pride and respect for everyone.
