Nashik Muncipal Corporation (NMC) has started the process of recruiting women employees as there are 175 posts vacant from class I-IV. The recruitment drives is a project for the women welfare. The above was discussed in a meeting by the officials a day before the visit of the Maharashtra Legislative Council’s Women’s Rights and Welfare Committee.
The meeting held on Tuesday declared the recruitment of candidates in the NMC administration in a couple of months. An NMC official announced, “”We have to fill up 175 vacancies of women in the NMC. There has not been any recruitment in the NMC for nearly a decade. Last year, as per the government’s orders, we began with the recruitment process and will be recruiting candidates in a couple of months,”
Many women employees retired recently, however those seats are neither replaced nor filled. Hence, vacancy is there in all the classes. Also, in the resolution prepared in 1994, 30% reservation for women in government offices had been declared. The official also added “A few years back, there was a demand for 50 per cent reservation, but that has not been implemented so far.”
Plans for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela also include a major temporary recruitment drive by the NMC. Sources reveal that 150 people will be recruited in near future, out of which 50% will be women. Other details of the recruitment process and the count are to be discussed in the forthcoming meetings.
