In Our Last updated about nashik onlist of top 8 cities, which will be developed as smart now In a major step towards making Nashik a ‘Smart City’, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) launched the Smart City application, an interactive mobile application for people to participate in the work of the corporation, give suggestions, register complaints and use the facility on online payment of bills, register births or death, seek building plan approval, all aimed at clean, efficient and transparent working of the corporation.

Launching the mobile application at a programme held at Kalidas Kala Mandir on Tuesday, September 15, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray lauded the NMC for taking a step towards transparency in its working. However, at the same he time he criticised other corporations for being closed to its own people. MNS holds power in the Nashik Municipal Corporation and Raj Thackeray has been personally looking into the matters of city development.

Presenting the application, municipal commissioner Dr Pravin Gedam said that the aim of the application being used under the Smart City project was to bring in transparency and facilitate the citizens. The advantage of the application is that people can keep a vigil on the working of the corporation, he said.

Introducing the features, Gedam said that information about work and systems of all departments of the NMC, details of corporators, registration of  complaints, direct contact with corporators or mayor, death or birth registrations, videos of various programmes of the NMC, know our work, Google maps, online building plan approval, paying up of taxes, use of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and other social media, giving suggestions, remarks, feedback or complaints, etc can be availed through this application.

He said that as the application is new it may have some challenges which will be overcome in due time of use. He also said that presently officers are busy with Kumbh Mela work and may need time to get tech savvy with the application suggesting that people should be patient if they do not get the response immediately.
He also informed about the selfie attendance being used by the NMC for sanitary workers.
