Nashik will be soon acquiring hassle free parking areas. The Kumb Mela mega event will be observed in the city and therefore there is an imperative need to avail sufficient spaces for parking.
Around 35 hectares of land is being scrutinized in and around Nashik for parking services. District collector Vilas Patil says, “We have identified 20 locations – which will be made public soon – to help in parking of vehicles outside the city, especially in the backdrop of the forthcoming kumbh mela. The areas will be permanently reserved for parking and the administration will come out with a plan to acquire these spaces.”
A total of 20 hectares of land in Nashik district which includes Nashik-sinnar, Nashik-Ojhar, Nashik-Igatpuri and 15 hectares of land in Trimbakeshwar tehsil includes Nashik-Trimbakeshwar , Trimbakeshwar-Ghoti and Trimbakeshwar-Jawhar roads which can be employed for parking slots. Each location will have an average of 2.5 hectares, informed the collector.
The collector also quoted “It will not be possible to acquire the land through a single agency. So, we will devise ways for land acquisition in a manner that the government agencies will bear a share and, later, develop the big parking lots as truck terminus, permanent parking spaces, etc from where mass public transport system will be made available.”
The collector opines on the Sadhugram land that the decision entirely depends on the NMC’s strategy to acquire the land. Also the district administration is prepared to sanction its approval and the money for the stated project. The NMC is also taking necessary to steps to process the project.
