The J.K tyres and its association with Volkswagen Motorsports get the presence of Karamjit Singh, the 2002 production World Rally Champion to India for the third time.
Mr.Singh was present for the second round of the Indian National Rally Championship. The rally veteran will be driving for Slideways Industries which has entered 5 Volkswagen Polo cars, all running on J.K tyres. Head-Motorsport, J.K Tyre & Industries Limited, Mr.Sanjay Sharma says “We have been thinking of getting back to rallying for a while. To take our partnership with Volkswagen further we have taken this step in association with Slideways Industries to first develop the hardware and thereafter launch a full-fledged program for Team J.K Tyre.”
The interesting part is to see Volkswagen Polo Cars perform on tarmac in and around Nashik City. The rally started its mission on Thursday with a ceremonial flag-off and the parade went through the busy roads of Nashik i.e Canada Corner, College Road, Model Colony, Vidya Prabodhini Prashala, Parijat Nagar, Mahatma Nagar, City Centre Mall, Untwadi, Trimurti chowk before ending at Gateway Hotel for Mahindra Adventure Rally of Maharashtra.
The World Champion added “I still am not very familiar with the racing scene in India but I’m looking forward to driving the Polo and making sure the team finishes strongly”. Mr.Singh ended it by saying,’This being the only event in Maharashtra holds a lot of importance and there would be a huge number of fans coming to cheer for this rally’.
