SADHUGRAMS for the Sadhus

Nashik is one of the 4 major holy cities where the Simhastha Kumbh Mela takes place every 12 years. This time Nashik will be witnessing this event in 2015, the preparations for the same have started by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) to provide the best of services.

sadhu2One of the proposals kept by the civic administration got green signal from the standing committee of NMC on Wednesday. The proposal states that there would be a survey conducted in Tapovan area and a ‘SADHUGRAM’ would be created for providing housing and other amenities to sadhus (saints) coming for the upcoming event.

An estimate number of saints calculated, coming from different religious groups headed by Mahamandaleshwars i.e. 3 lakhs from 3 Vaishnav Akhadas and 650 khalsas attached to them are expected to visit the city for the mega event.

The NMC is preparing and conducting the survey of 328.32 acres of land reserved for the Sadhugram at Tapovan. Out of this, 54.09 acres land is permanently taken by the NMC, 105.48 acres is reserved for sadhugram and the remaining 168.75 acres land which is ‘no development zone’ is reserved permanently for sadhugram. The work is already on track informed an NMC official.
