99959891Nashik is focusing on saving environment and is keenly looking into the matter. As rightly said, “Pollution Pollution, trees are the solution”. During the construction of four lane road, many trees were cut down. Page 3 Nashik, in the prior article on 30th August 2013 spread the tree transplantation work news which informed similar plan. A total number of 88 trees were to be planted along Nashik-Trimbak road, out of which only 10 trees are still in the process.

Mr. Mandar Oltikar, tree activist stated, “We were there with the officials and experts during the transplantation process. As of now, everything seems fine, but it is too early to comment on the survival of the transplanted trees”. The Public Works Department (PWD) provided the information that the road will be divided into 3 sections and accordingly trees will be planted in each section. 10 trees have been transplanted in the first section, from Ganpatwadi to Brahma Valley; 30 trees have been transplanted in the second section, from Brahma Valley College to Talegaon phata; and of the 48 trees to be transplanted in the third section, from Talegaon phata to the corporation limit.

Mr. Vijay Hake, PWD executive engineer said, “After the plantation of the trees, the work for expansion of the road will start”. To save the trees planted on the edge of the road, the road will be constructed around them. As the Kumbh Mela is on the verge, the construction of the four lane project is to be completed before it begins.

NMC and other concerned authorities are trying their best to make Nashik green and healthy.
