Kumbh Mela being a massive event is not a one man show. Therefore the city police have appealed the citizens to join hands by supporting the volunteer program. This program asks citizens of Nashik to extend their support to the Kumbh Mela officials during the rituals and other proceedings.
Anybody can be a part of the volunteer program as there is no a specific criterion or qualification desired. But the basic numeracy and literacy is must. Also, these candidates will be scrutinized and character verification will be done before taking them in the team.Those volunteers who can give manage spare time for volunteering can contact the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) (headquarters) and assistant commissioner of police (ACP) (admin) at the police commissionerate.
Services like assisting the police force, managing crowd, providing information, etc is expected from the volunteers. Also, major roles like avoiding mishaps and if occurred then helping them. These can be transporting injured people to the hospitals, maintaining electrical works, guiding pilgrims and many other like services.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Kulwant Kumar Sarangal said, “The services of volunteers can be used in various works related to the police department. We would need support of large number of volunteers to provide better policing services to the visiting devotees during the ensuing Kumbh mela taking place in the city in 2015-16.”
Training sessions will be provided to the volunteers before going on the field. This is a kind appeal to all the Nashikites to extend their participation and to make Kumbh mela a great success in Nashik.
