Ashwini Anand knows it all because she has emerged as the city champion of Classmate Spell Bee Season 7, powered by The Times of India. Ashwini is a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya AFS Ojhar and has made her parents as well as her school proud of her achievements.
Classmate Spell Bee competition offers a suitable platform for the students to identify their strengths and achieve recognition for their unique spelling skills.The team of Spell Bee has traveled to more than 800 schools in 30 cities and has successfully assembled more than 2.75 students from class V to IX.
Nashik is one of the 30 cities in which the online semi-finals of Classmate Spell Bee, Season 7, India’s largest spelling competition, was conducted. The initial round of the competition received an over-whelming response from the city. Initially, it began with an on-ground competition across 11 schools in Nashik, wherein children were given spelling tests. Top 15 scorers from each school then competed in the city finals round and the top performers then competed in the semi-finals round.The finale of Season 7 will see a strenuous competition between the top 16 scorers across the country to win the title of India’s Spell Bee Championship. City Champion Ashwini will now compete in the national finale of the contest. The national finale will be telecast on TV on the Discovery channel, Discovery Kids and Discovery Tamil.
The national champion will be honored with prize money of Rs. 2 lakhs. Apart from this, the national champion with be offered a staggering opportunity of witnessing the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee competition, along with a parent in Washington DC in 2015, in all expenses paid trip. The four semi-finalists will also be honored with prize money of Rs. 50,000 each.
The competition this year is presented by Classmate, powered by Times of India and is in association with Seven Seas and Air India. Times NIE are the education partners on the property. This is an initiative taken by Radio Mirchi and Air India. A member of the Star Alliance is the official travel partner of the contest and will fly the national champion, along with a parent to US.
