Humshakals- Movie review

humshakPage3 Nashik reviews the Friday release of the week- ‘Humshakals‘. Yet another attempt by Sajid khan at comedy staring  Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta, Vashu Bhagnani production. Humshakals looks exactly similar to Sajid’s earlier films like Housefull 2 — with a farcical plot based in foreign locations and some unsuccessful comedy.

Humshakals-MIt is the story of two friends played by Ritesh Deshmukh and Saif Ali Khan who play tripple roles in the movie. Ram Kapoor is playing a supporting actor and has tripple role too. Ashok (Saif) is a business tycoon who is filthy rich. When we say filthy, we mean he goes back home in his chopper. Kumar (Riteish) is Ashok’s buddy and the duo is almost inseparable. Though Ashok is a millionaire, he wants to make it big as a stand-up comedian too. But the problem is – he sucks at it big time. So while Ashok is happy cracking boring jokes, his best buddy Kumar is tired of listening them. Well, that pretty much sums up the first 20 minutes of the film. Then enters Ashok’s Mamaji (Ram Kapoor). He is conniving and desperately wants to take over Ashok’s dynasty. Hence he plans to prove that Ashok is mentally unstable. And he almost succeeds in his mission. While Ashok and Kumar end up in a mental asylum, their humshakals are locked up in another ward of the same asylum. Coincidentally their names are also Ashok and Kumar. What happens next? Well, you’ll have to watch the movie to find out..Hamshad

humshakalsThe total mess up during the two hours and forty minutes runtime gives us abundance tiny light-hearted moments. The jokes and the sequences aren’t astonishing but they appeal you to least chuckle if not laugh out of madness.  What amuses us most is the sequence where Ashok, Kumar and Mamaji are magnetized towards the beauty of their twins who are draped in female costumes including the bikini one. There is an amusement in such series in the flicks, which Sajid creates in style. His story might have numerous dodges but are filled with innumerable events.

As far as performances are concerned, Riteish is the one who might be of some interest in the film, followed by Ram Kapoor. Despite all odds, Riteish seems to pull off the gag-act perfectly. Ram does a decent job of playing the mean mama – KANS, and he has his moments. Saif  is unconvincing as the man behaving as a dog, as the waitress. With not a great  story or comedy to offer, even Riteish and Ram are unable to save the day for Sajid Khan.Although the three ladies – Tamannaah, Esha and Bipasha are looking stunning.

Music by Himesh Reshamiya & Songs like Caller Tune and Piya Ke Bazaar Mein have done well. However we would give the movie a 1.5/5
