Partially closed RTO is back in action

on 3rd December 2013 Page 3 Nashik updated about RTO Nashik remains partially closed from 5/12/13The Regional Transport Office (RTO) is back in action with a complete and successful installation of ‘Vahan’ from 11th December, 2013- Wednesday.

A major difference was observed in the old software and the newly installed. The old one was used since 1996 and development of the new software was much needed to introduce new technology and ease the work. Both these soft-wares are developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Vahan-ChanglangAs it was partially closed for shifting of data, for this 7 RTO officials and other employees were given training sessions from Friday to Monday for getting required knowledge as to the usage of ‘Vahan’ in deputy RTO office located at Pimpri-Chinchwad. Also the trials were conducted to ensure proper use of ‘Vahan’.

RTO officer, Jeevan Bansod, said “The new software was more secure and user friendly, and would improve employees’ working hours. Further, there was also a facility of scanning the documents of the vehicles and any information about any vehicle would now be available at the click of a button.”

The works relating to the private vehicles was not much disturbed as the data of private vehicles was already loaded on ‘Vahan’  since 2007, while works relating to commercial vehicles like payment of taxes, renewal of permits and getting fitness certificates are now carried on usual basis.

As per the information gathered, the officials state that the new ‘Vahan’ is ready to use and will ease their and customer’s works.
