Tired of the increasing traffic snarls in the city, particularly at the marketplace, the police have now decided to convert six roads into one-ways. The decision has been taken after the survey of the city by top police officials under leadership of commissioner of police and examining suggestions and objections from people.
With this new traffic system, the police are also trying to bring discipline among the vehicle drivers. The police have also provided alternate roads as the options for one-ways. The number of vehicles is increasing with the population. Since long the market is located at the centre of the city and with the increase in population, its area has also spread in all the directions. The market place gets crowded with pedestrians as well as with local vehicles. At the same time, some vehicles from other places also arrive in the market, making situations more complicated.
Therefore, police commissioner Kulwant Kumar Sarangal, had surveyed the area and decided to convert some roads into one-ways. The commissioner found that some of the roads in the city remain very busy and crowded in daytime. After the survey, police planned to convert six roads into one-ways.
According to it, the entries from Deepsons Corner to Nehru Garden, Pratik Lodge to Nepali Corner, rear side of Nehru garden, Sangli Bank signal to Nehru Chowk via Dhumal Point, Gadgemaharaj statue to Mangesh Mithai Corner via Dhumal Point, Mangesh Mithai Corner to flower market via old Sarkarwada Police Station, Dahipul to 15 August Lodge have been banned. These routes will be used as one-ways from 9 am to 9 pm.
