Rs. 317.50 CRORE SANCTIONED TO BOOST TOURISM

Tourism in Nashik is gaining huge importance as the mega event Kumbh Mela is on its way. Numerous preparations have been taking place in the city and many other transformations are in the pipeline. To cater to the financial needs The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has extended a proposal of Rs. 317.50 crore to promote tourism in Nashik.

68457_304079686361361_586906281_nThe breakup of the allotted funds is as follows: Rs.126 crore has been endorsed for various tourism projects in Nashik district, Rs.46 crore for Dhule, Rs. 57 crore for Ahmednagar, Rs. 52 crore for Nandurbar districts and Rs.36 crore for Jalgaon. The total fund of Rs. 317.50 crore approved by the state government will focus to generate projects for highlighting the tourism in north Maharashtra.

The regional manager, MTDC, Pradnya-Bade Misal announced “We recently received an official copy of the letter approving the proposal and sanction of the funds. The aim of the projects is to tap the tourism potential of the scenic locations and promote these for the forthcoming Kumbh and also for regular tourism.”

someshwarFew plans chalked out for expansion of hot spots in Nashik are the Gangapur dam, the Godavari River, Someshwar temple and Godavari kund. Also, tourist spots in Trimbakeshwar like the Jyotirling temple, Teertha kund, Srikeshtra Kapildhara, Prayag Teerth, Anjaneri, Dugarwadi waterfall, Dama dams; Vani and Bhatsa have been shortlisted for development. Others include Vipassana Meditation Centre, Bhandardara, Kalsubai temple, Shirdi, Devgad, Mohatadevi, Shani Shingnapur and the like will be unfolded for a new look.

One of the MTDC officials was of the opinion that people who visit Nashik during Kumbh Mela also tend to visit many other pilgrim destinations. Therefore, developing these places will enhance tourism in the region. Undoubtedly, Kumbh Mela, 2015 is not only going to fetch tourists around the globe but also will be fetching an entirely revised appearance of Nashik.
