Students exploring the Science Express

Eight of the 16 coaches are solely dedicated to displaying the biodiversity spread across the bio-geographical zones of India like trans-Himalaya and Himalaya, the Gangetic plain, North East India, the Western Ghats, the Indian deserts, the semi-arid zone, the Deccan peninsula and the coasts and the islands.

Field officer of the central government Parag Mandle said, “Biodiversity is a current issue for all. We have sent letters to schools including civic schools. Directorate of field publicity is also conducting programmes for some school children. Before the students see the train, we will be informing them about what biodiversity is and why it is necessary for us. We will have quiz competition as well and will give environment-related books to them. We will be doing it with Marathi Vidnyan Parishad.”

He said that the train will be stationed on the track for parcels and that the entry for visitors will be from the lane near the Devi Mandir where the parking lot is located. Visitors will have to take Subhash Road to reach here.

Hope Nasikaties will take benefit of such fantastic initiative.
