The Kumbh Mela Plan
Nashik being the host city for the much chattered event, ‘Kumbh Mela – 2015’ is on the run to acquire permits and sanctions for the various expected expenditures that the city would have to take care of. Planning and preparations for the Kumbh Mela are being carried out with great zest in the city. Prior, 3 meetings were conducted by the High Powered Committee (HPC), headed by State Chief Secretary Jayant Banthia. A meeting for the finalization of the Kumbh Mela plan is about to be held on Thursday to present the statistics before the Summit Committee.
Greater part of the work and around 60% of the planning for the Kumbh is conceded on by Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavhan is the also in the foremost and heading committee. It also involves the Public Works Department (PWD), headed by Chhagan Bhujbal.
All the arrangements and provisions will be discussed in the meeting for finalizing the Rs 2,297-crore Kumbh Mela plan. The Rs 2,297-crore Kumbh Mela plan is the pre settlement out of Rs 4,900-crore plan. It will first be placed before the CM for approval. After the authorization of CM, it would be forwarded to the Center for further financial assistance.
According to the meetings held before the Collector of Nashik, Vilas Patil said, “It was requested to government agencies for making the arrangement for funds through their own departments, but as of now no word of agreement has been attained by them. It was expected that tenders pertaining to major work by agencies were carried out by the concerned departments. But the WRD has not moved ahead with work, nor is there any information on the funds being arranged by the forest department or the tourism department for the work they wish to carry out in the backdrop of the Kumbh Mela”.
Also the construction work related with the Ganga Ghat neighboring river Godavari by the Water Resources Department (WRD) and the space for the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) in Tapovan, are some of the projects that need to come in action. With this meeting, the final Kumbh Mela plan will be concluded and the work will initiate for the same.
